What We Believe
We are a group of Christians adhering to the New Testament pattern for the church. We seek to glorify God in all that we do. We are commanded to follow a pattern for our worship to God. That pattern consists of:
- SINGING - Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16
- PRAYER - 1 Timothy 2:1-4
- LORD'S SUPPER - Matthew 26:26-28; Acts 20:7
- PREACHING/TEACHING
- GIVING - 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:7
We acknowledge the Bible as our only source of authority for what we teach and practice (Colossians 3:17). There is no authority for any creeds, manuals, disciplines or catechisms. God's law is the perfect law and given to us in perfect form (James 1:25). We believe in the inspiration of the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16). We recognize that Jesus is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23) and purchased it with His own blood (Acts 20:28). We are endeavoring to abide by the law of Christ and to follow the commands of Christ regarding His church. We are striving to glorify and honor God in all that we do. Our goal is that by teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ that others will be led to be obedient to God's will. As Christians we are to be lights in the world (Matthew 5:16).
Our belief is that for one to receive forgiveness of their sins they must heed to what God has required of us. He has commanded that in order to receive forgiveness of sins and become a child of His individuals must:
- HEAR - "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ." - Romans 10:17
- BELIEVE - "Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." - John 8:24
- REPENT - "No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will perish as well!" - Luke 13:3
- CONFESS - "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus as Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation." - Romans 10:9-10
- BE BAPTIZED - "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." - Mark 16:16
One must remain faithful in this life in order to obtain that crown of life (Revelation 2:10).
